Megan & Kevin

Tanya & Leighton

Date of your Wedding: 24 September 2011
The Florin Hall

Name of Bride: Tanya Gould
Age: 32
Occupation: Business Development Manager: ABI

Name of Groom: Leighton Gould
Age: 35
Occupation: General Engineering Supervisor: Murray & Roberts

How did you meet: Blind date set-up by his cousin and my best friend (who are now married as well)

The proposal: He took me away for a weekend to Thulani Eco Estate (Koedoeskop area) and after a lovely spa treatment and game drive, he had a bonfire lit and platters served and popped the question

What theme or atmosphere did you create on your Big Day: Scottish

What was unique about your wedding? The bagpipes that we had arranged and the ‘oyster man’ that my dad had as a surprise. Oysters represent “aphrodisiac” properties.

Describe your Table Décor/flowers or Gifts to guests: Table décor: Grey damask runner with wrought iron stand for centerpieces. Colours were gunmetal grey and dark blue.
Favours were organza bags filled with nougat and the ladies got an extra something (keyring in the form of an angel) made with beads.

Describe your Wedding Dress: GF Bridal couture dress. Sweetheart bodice with beadwork, with train

Describe your Wedding Cake: Rolo and Vanilla Cup cakes with a Bar-One cake (to cut for photo)

The Best thing about being a Bride: The way I was made to look (make-up and hair)

The Best thing about being a Groom: The attention given

Highlights/Special/Funny incidents of the day: My aunt catching the bouquet (age 77 and never been married)
Leighton had a choice of more than 1 garter to remove as I wore 2

What have you learned from this experience: Many months of planning are put into a wedding and it goes by in the blink of an eye

Any advice you would like to give other bridal couples? Enjoy it and make sure you use professionals (where you can) to do the big aspects
