It was a garden wedding and it was perfect for December.

It was lime which symbolizes nature and gold that symbolizes beauty and the worth of our ceremony,

Describe your Wedding Dress: It was cream skirt covered with lace and the slit on the left side with two roses and the top with small transparent beads.

Describe your Wedding Cake: It was a fruit cake, the big part on top of the stand and surrounded by small cakes that were made of vanilla and chocolate.

The Best thing about being a Bride: On the wedding day everyone can’t wait to see the bride and even the groom . It was special that we were going to declare our love for each other in front off both families and friends.

The Best thing about being a Groom: To be the recipient of this beautiful bride, what a wonderful experience.

Highlights/Special/Funny incidents of the day:

The biggest highlight was that we finally walked down the red carpet and got married!

A special moment was when I was on my way to the garden hearing the song of Bebe Winnens - All I wanted was to be loved.

What have you learned from this experience: If two people truly love each other they can move mountains. We planned our wedding in two moths and it was a success!

Any advice you would like to give other bridal couples? They must always remember that marriage is a school where you never graduate, a school without a break or a free period, a school where no one is allowed to drop out, a school which you will have to attend every day of your life, a school where there is no sick leave or holidays, a school founded by GOD, on the foundation of love. The walls are made out of trust, the doors are made out of acceptance, the windows made out of understanding, furniture made out of blessings and the roof made out of faith. They must remember that they are both students and GOD IS THE PRINCIPAL.

The proposal: At Champagne Castle in the Drakensburg on my 24^th Birthday. He said there was something in the bushes and asked me what it I thought it was, so I turned to look and while I was staring intently trying to see what he was seeing, he was on his knee behind me; waiting for me to turn around! But He had to get up and follow me and get down on his knee again (about 3 times) because I didn’t turn around like he planned, instead I walked closer to what ever he was “seeing” eventually he got fed up and pulled me by the hand to see him down on the floor. And which point I asked…’What are you doing on the floor!” He presented me with the ring and we still laugh about it todayJ

What theme or atmosphere did you create on your Big Day: Color! Bright purple and Turquoise!

What was unique about your wedding? I hand made all the décor and we had our family from all over the world there.

Describe your Table Décor/flowers or Gifts to guests: I chose white lilies in tall martini glasses. I made some purple and turquoise crystal beaded strings to hang from the rim of the vase and I strung small fairy lights around the stem of the vase. The vase centerpiece went on a round glass mirror, which then went on top of a turquoise/ purple runner (in solid taffeta) and the tablecloth was white damask patterned. The glass centerpieces had 4 candles sitting on it with glass shards sprinkles. I printed little love quotes and joke comments on metallic paper and sprinkled them on the tables. The chairs had white covers on them and they had blue chair ties (to match the blue runner) or purple chair ties. The ladies chairs had a beaded wire heart hanging from the chair tie with a white spider spray flower woven into the heart. All the guests got a heart shaped cookie with their name on it for the name placers and a jar (that I decorated up a bit in purple and turquoise) full of purple, white and turquoise jelly beansJ

Describe your Wedding Dress: BEAUTIFUL! It was very simple strapless bodice into a softly pleated skirt in diamond white, with a small ‘bling’ detail on the belt on my left hip. Maggie Sottero.

Describe your Wedding Cake: Top tier in white with delicate white heart filigree detail and some purple and turquoise hearts on wire shooting from the middle. Our topper was a man fishing for his bride. And the rest of the tiers were white chocolate or chocolate cupcakes with vanilla icing and a purple or turquoise icing heart on top.

The Best thing about being a Bride: Highlights/Special/Funny incidents of the day: That I was marrying the man of my dreams, and not that anyone needs to but everyone walks on eggshells around you!

What have you learned from this experience? : That I really enjoyed making all the décor for my wedding, I could it for a livingJ Do the best you can with your prep in getting everything the way you want it for your day but if something’s don’t work out exactly as you planned DON’T STRESS about it or let it ruin your day because only you will know how it should have been! No one else will notice.

Any advice you would like to give other bridal couples?

It’s a lot of work, and no matter how hard you try, you can’t please everyone! At the end of the day it’s all about you and your husband!

What was unique about your wedding? The bagpipes that we had arranged and the ‘oyster man’ that my dad had as a surprise. Oysters represent “aphrodisiac” properties.

Describe your Table Décor/flowers or Gifts to guests: Table décor: Grey damask runner with wrought iron stand for centerpieces. Colours were gunmetal grey and dark blue.

Favours were organza bags filled with nougat and the ladies got an extra something (keyring in the form of an angel) made with beads.

Describe your Wedding Dress: GF Bridal couture dress. Sweetheart bodice with beadwork, with train

How did you meet: After matric, while studying I started working at the same place Nico did. God had it planned that the same guy I had a crush on from the 1^st moment I laid eyes on him, was the one to be in charge of training me. My knees went weak every time I saw him or had to be near him. Never did I know that he would become my soul mate. The one thing led to another - we went for coffee, I met his friends and 7 years later we were engaged and standing on the verge of getting married. The day we met each other, we just knew!!!!

The proposal: I have the MOST awesome man in the world!!!! He planned a surprise weekend away in December 2009 to the Drakensburg at a place with the most amazing, breathtaking and exclusive lodges far away from our everyday life. He had planned every little detail to the finest point. The Saturday, we went out on the water with a little boat, just the 2 of us, for a nice and peaceful trip with a magazine each and nothing insight other than the mountains, birds chirping and the sound of serenity. At dusk, we went back to the lodge where he prepared a beautiful candle lit foam bath with rose pedals and candles leading from the deck up to the bathroom. While I was ordered to relax and freshen up, he was downstairs preparing the most AWESOME candle lit 3 course dinner with romantic music playing in the background and the mountains reflecting on the water and a fireplace burning as the view. But I found it to be a bit strange why he was moving fairly fast from starters to dessert barely chewing his food. Not knowing that his nerves were getting to him for the BIG question to come after dessert. When we both were finished, he got up and started playing our song “Grow old with you” where he got down on one knee, took out this small little shiny box and proposed. I was soooo excited and surprised that I started crying and jumped up and down in his arms (was so overwhelmed, I nearly gave the wrong hand)! It was the most amazing weekend of our lives and the start of a beautiful new beginning in our relationship. I was so relieved and pleased that the big moment had finally come because I was waiting anxiously for years.

What theme or atmosphere did you create on your Big Day:

Very elegant and formal damask theme with a warm magical feeling of love in the air.

What was unique about your wedding?

My husband and dad are serious bikers, so he and the groom’s men made a grand entrance on the bikes.

The guests spent their time while waiting for us, engraving their messages on a silver antique tray so that we could use it for years thereafter and keep the memory.

Describe your Table Décor/flowers or Gifts to guests:

Gifts: Every guest received a beautiful black crystal wine glass with a something sweet from Lindt

chocolate inside with a thank you wrapping on top.

The colors of our wedding were black and silver damask with cherish pink.

The flowers were a mix of beautiful pink and white colors to brighten the room.

We added a lot of bling elements to give a sparkle to the décor. We wanted to create a modern yet romantic feeling.

Describe your Wedding Dress:

Wow, what a dream dress – a typical fairytale dress for my fairytale wedding. I bought my dress at Euro bride and fell in love with it the 1^st moment I fitted it on. It is a snow white ball gown dress with a strapless corset and a beautiful crystal diamante flower, her name “Henrietta”. After fitting so many other dresses, I just knew that this was the one for me. It felt like the dress was made especially just for me. Everything I ever wanted it to be like and dreamed of. The company that did our décor was Merav Events, Mari-Ni did a good job of taking our ideas and making it a reality.

Describe your Wedding Cake:

The Cake Genie designed our wedding cake. The cake was designed personally with a hand crafted damask detail to match the décor theme with added diamante. We had a 5 layer black and white wedding cake and each layer was a different flavor, syrup and cake. The 1st was a lovely moist vanilla cake with the most amazing vanilla syrup. The 2^nd was a decadent vanilla cake with a caramel sensation that melted in your mouth. The 3^rd layer was a tasty strawberry syrup with a delicious rainbow cake. The 4^th layer was an amarula vanilla cake. The 5^th layer had to be a dummy as the icing was black. Their service was excellent and they were so helpful and assisted us to the best of their ability to design the cake to our own idea and requirements. Would refer anyone and everyone to do their wedding cake with them.

The Best thing about being a Bride: Highlights/Special/Funny incidents of the day:

The day before the wedding I was a nervous wreck, I wasn’t feeling well at all and could feel the nerves were settling in. But the day of our wedding, from the moment I opened my eyes, calmness came over me that words could not describe. I felt so relaxed and ready for our big day. Everyone around me, our mothers and the bridesmaids were crying and was so emotional, yet I seemed to be the calm one. I knew God was in control of our day and He would make sure everything was perfect! What more could I have asked for – I was marrying the man of my dreams.

What have you learned from this experience?

All that planning and hard work definitely paid off and was so worth the end result!

In spite of the new commitments and hard work, for the 1^st time in my life, I feel COMPLETE!

Any advice you would like to give other bridal couples?

Do not wait for the last minute to start planning your wedding, even if it is the small things – those are the things that take up the most of your time. Enjoy every moment while it lasts because it comes and goes so quickly. Do and experience everything together as a couple because it makes it so much more fun and easier.

How we met...... we met in 2005 at a braai at Hannah’s house when I went to pick my sister up, i can safely say that she was the most beautiful girl there and it was also clear to spot that she couldn’t resist me either (I stand to be corrected on that one). We didn’t contact each other for awhile until my sister had a birthday party at our house then the heat was on, I made my move. Ever since then we’ve been together for 5 years, after 2 years of going out we knew this thing was bigger than what we initially thought, and we found ourselves making plans about the future even though we were both at college. We knew that we want to spend the rest of our lives together

The proposal:

The Proposal....after many happy years together Alfred planned to give her a surprise fit for a fairytale. It was a hot summer’s day on the 14^th of February Valentine’s Day that He decided to propose to his queen. He booked a day at a horse ranch in Hekpoort, went on a horse ride to the foothills of the mountains there where a picnic basket was waiting for the two of them, after partaking of the finger foods and glass of champagne, Alfred whispered sweet nothings in Hannah’s ears (so we hear), he then got down on one knee and made a promise of a lifetime to marry the most beautiful woman in country and proposed. Lucky for him she said “yes! Yes! Yes! I will marry you” can you imagine had she said no! Eish driving all that way lol

What theme or atmosphere did you create on your Big Day: Classy, romance, elegance and fantasy, just an overall warm feel

What was unique about your wedding? It was personalized, it had our personal touch. We were involved from the beginning to the last detail and it was so much fun. It was just the way we wanted and planned it

Describe your Table Décor/flowers or Gifts to guests: Table deco was elegant, we had patterned yellow runners running across the table, we also had our favorite words that have strong meaning in our lives as table names e.g. integrity, respect, love etc… we had candle Libras with yellow flowers e.g. roses etc and on each second table we had brandy vases with water and a big sunflower and floating gebras inside. As gifts to the guest we just had colorful packaged sweets

Describe your Wedding Dress: Princess like gown which we got from Morgan and Brown, white in color embroiled with shiny glitters on the chest

Describe your Wedding Cake: 3 tier wedding cake white with dashes of yellow, we chose a fresh vanilla cake which was made the day before; we opted for this kind than the traditional fruit cake

The Best thing about being a Bride: it’s my day; everything is about me and just making my parents proud

The Best thing about being a Groom: Making sure that everything was perfect for Hannah as this was about her, just also having family and close friends there to witness

Highlights/Special/Funny incidents of the day: Highlights is Hannah’s entrance with her Father in the chapel as my friend Osborn Toorn sang Joe Thomas’s I believe in you

Deshini & Keegan - Farthing Venue

How did you meet: We met 3 days before Keegan’s 24^th Birthday in July 2007
at the Corner House (Irish Pub) on Witkoppen. I was up from Durban for work
purposes and had no intention of ever getting caught up in the JHB rat race.
Surprise to say, 3 weeks later I relocated; we found our own place and
moved in together. Everything happened so fast but worked out for
the best in the end. I think it was a case of knowing in your heart
that you have finally met your soul mate.

The proposal: Keegan proposed on the 9^th of August 2009 at our home.
It was stunning and I could tell that he put a lot of thought and effort into
the entire evening. He had made arrangements for my boss to keep me back
at work instead of leaving early, as it was a Friday. I remember driving
home and thinking “what have I screwed up at work that I was not
allowed to leave early”. When I got home I saw the door leading
to the garden was open, instantly I thought we had been robbed,
so I clutched on to my keys and got ready to attack until I saw Keegan.
He was dresses up in a tuxedo and our dog (Zoey) was wearing a cute
pink collar, the dining room table had been moved outside and
beautifully decorated. When I took a closer looked at the Zoey’s collar,
it had “will you marry me” then I looked up and saw Keeg on 1 knee
holding this beautiful ring. Very special evening and the best part
was that even our dog was a part of the proposal.

What theme or atmosphere did you create on your Big Day:
It was a very relaxed, fun day from dawn till dusk.
Lots of laughs and beautiful memories from start to finish.

What was unique about your wedding? –
It was unique in that it was the coming together of
2 culturally different families.

The Best thing about being a Bride: The special attention I got from my mom
and aunty the week leading to my wedding.
I even got a head to toe message from them the night before.

The Best thing about being a Groom:
Having everyone around there to share this special moment with you.

Special incidents of the day:
The most special thing for me was having my little brother walk me down the aisle.
The highlight was the beautiful song Keegan sang for me at our reception.

Any advice you would like to give other bridal couples?
Just enjoy every second of your wedding day and take the time absorb
and savor all the special moments as they go by so fast.
Don’t allow anything to ruin your day, just go with it and have fun!

The proposal: William took me out for dinner at the Fat Olive restaurant in Muldersdrift. We had a romantic dinner and after dessert he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

What theme or atmosphere did you create on your Big Day: A glamorous, Elegant, fun day filled with love and happiness

What was unique about your wedding? It was my first time so everything was unique for me J We had a photo booth and a big floor decal on our dance floor that said MR and MRS DU PREEZ

Describe your Table Décor/flowers or Gifts to guests: Black and White damask with yellow roses. Candelabras with rose balls on the top, crystals hanging from them. We gave our guests fudge and nougat (engraved with thank you for sharing our special day with us) and black champaign glasses with our names and date engraved on them.

Describe your Wedding Dress: BEAUTIFUL!! I couldn’t have asked for a more stunning dress. It was the dress of my dreams.

Describe your Wedding Cake: Mini Mozart cakes on a stunning cake stand surrounded by yellow roses

The Best thing about being a Bride: A day all about you (and of course your groom) Being able to dress up like a princess and marry the guy of your dreams

The Best thing about being a Groom: Waiting at the end of the aisle for my bride. Having the day to celebrate all our dreams.

Highlights/Special/Funny incidents of the day: The minister dropped or rings (Is this bad luck – ha ha) Waiting for the chapel doors to open, I am sure everyone could hear my heart beat for outside the chapel as I was waiting to walk down the aisle. The best mans speech was so funny and the groom took my breath away with his speech

What have you learned from this experience: That if there is anything you want to do in your life – do it! Live for the day.

Any advice you would like to give other bridal couples? Don’t blink on the day, it goes by so quickly and you don’t want to miss a thing. Don’t stress, if there are any flops no one would know the difference. You only get one big day so make the most of it.

The proposal: Candle light dinner prepared by his sister in his house after a weekend away.

What theme or atmosphere did you create on your Big Day: Fairy Butterfly theme with colors yellow, gold and white.

What was unique about your wedding? Seeing my future husband waiting with emotion and love in the chapel.

Describe your Table Décor/flowers or Gifts to guests: Golden under plates with handmade butterfly serviette rings. Men had biltong in a box; Women had a little snow ball with an angel inside and chocolates as a treat to the children. All tables had glass candle balls and the centre pieces had lemons with yellow and white Kenyan roses and carnation, filled with bloom Chrysanthemums.

The garden was laid out with all Chrysanthemum flowers, glass balls and Bird cages hanging from the trees filled with flowers. The Chapel was filled with flowers and glass balls with yellow and white scented rose petals.

Describe your Wedding Dress: Halter neck, princess style fare out at the bottom.

Describe your Wedding Cake: White hazelnut and vanilla ice cream cake with yellow, white and gold flowers and butterflies.

The Best thing about being a Bride: Was only the honor to marry a wonderful man like Theuns and to relax all the way with no care in the world as the family did all decorations and preparations. I only had to worry about myself and the dress.

The Best thing about being a Groom: (I have just asked my Husband and who would know for someone that never wants to dance, he loved that!)

Highlights/Special/Funny incidents of the day: A quick arrangement to get the garter! And there was only one unmarried man to catch. It was also special to have 3 wonderful flower girls by my side and 2 bridesmaids (sisters) who made this day just special.

What have you learned from this experience: To make the day as memorable as possible, as this will be a lifetime memory and to remember most of the day!

Any advice you would like to give other bridal couples? Enjoy the day and do not stress, try to remember all detail.
